Donna Williford Askew

Donna Williford Askew soared on angels’ wings from her Earthly home on October 17, 2019 to a new home in Heaven where streets are paved with gold to walk forever with friends, family and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Whom she loved beyond measure.

Formerly of the Rehobeth, Alabama area, she had recently moved to the nursing home in Ft. Gaines, Georgia. She died last Thursday evening in Dothan at Southeast Health hospital following a heart attack.

Born August 16,1951 in Rehobeth, Alabama to the late James Oliver Williford and late Ruby G. Williford, she learned the meaning of hard work by laboring on the family farm.  She was educated in the Rehobeth School System.

During the course of her life, she worked in many different occupations as she was not only a multi-tasker but was also a multi-talented Southern lady who, like so many of her gender and generation, could be found preparing and sending food over to someone who was experiencing a difficult day.

She is survived by her son Joshua Blocker, her brother James Williford, her sister Patricia Williford Smith, her much beloved brother and sister in Christ, Mike and Teresa Adams, and her family at Calvary Baptist Church.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 25th at 4 pm with Dave Lindey officiating.  Flowers are being omitted and memorial contributions are being accepted to His Fortress Ministries in care of Calvary Baptist Church of Dothan.

Family First Funeral Care is in charge of the arrangements.
