Donnie C. Nichols
Donnie C. Nichols (Donnie), age 53, of Panama City Beach, Florida, passed away May 9, 2021. He was born and raised in Cottonwood, Alabama. He graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1986. After graduation, he attended Wallace Community College and graduated from the Southwest Alabama Police Academy. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Amanda on March 9, 1990. They were married for 31 years.
Donnie began his law enforcement career in Dothan, Alabama. He worked for both the Houston County Sheriff Department and Dothan City Police Department. He transferred to Panama City Beach Police and completed his 25 years of law enforcement service. After retirement, Amanda and Donnie began DNA Services where they provided help to community Home Owners Associations in the area. Then they created and began Beach Beginnings Weddings & Events. The Beach Beginnings team consists of 17 plus members and are a part of the family.
Donnie enjoyed traveling and cruising with his wife and taking his niece, Mary Beth to Disney World.
He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Don Ray.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Amanda, his mother-in-law, Gail Ray, his sister-in-law, Dedra (Trent), and his special niece, Mary Beth Blair. He had his loyal service dog, Zeus, and his godchildren, DJ Douglas, Kayla Redmon (Ryan), and Kyle Whitehead (Jessica).
His parents were Bill and Linda Nichols, Don Freeman (Linda) and his family, Bolivia, Kevin, and Darlene. A special uncle, Jonny and Kim Kirkland, their daughter, Mikayla, and a special aunt, Melba Campbell. Donnie and Amanda had a special “tribe” of friends that were truly part of the family: Amir and Kelli Lizarraga and their children, Sofia, Cheyenne, Anais, Roge, and Hali. Brian and Jaime Dahlin and their children, Caitlin, Sean, and Ryder all of Panama City Beach and Lynn Page, Al & Diane Cerqueda, Jerry & Joyce Fowler all of Georgia.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2 pm Sunday May 16, 2021 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Panama City Beach, FL.
