DONNIE ROYCE CORBIN
ALBANY, GEORGIA. . .Donnie Royce Corbin, a resident of Albany, GA., died Saturday afternoon, August 27, 2016, in the Early Memorial Nursing Home in Blakely, GA. He was 76.
Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held at 11:00 A.M. (C.D.T.) Wednesday, August 31, 2016, in the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, near Midland City, Alabama, with Reverend Ricky Sowell officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations, Headland, Alabama, is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Mr. Corbin was born in Phenix City, Alabama and was reared in Midland City. Upon graduation from Midland City High, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired from the Marines with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant after twenty years’ service and two tours of duty in Vietnam. After retiring from the military, Mr. Corbin was employed by Flowers Hospital in Dothan in Materials Management and Purchasing. He later retired from Memorial Hospital & Manor in Bainbridge as the Director of Environmental Services. Mr. Corbin was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Legion and the V.F.W., all in Colquitt. He was preceded in death by his father, James Morris Corbin, his mother, Naomi Kennedy Davis, his step-mother, Mattie Lee Corbin, and a brother, Pastor Bennie Corbin.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Marian Medley Corbin, Albany, GA; a son, Gary Corbin (Donna), Birmingham; a step-daughter, Marcy Schneider (Rick), and a step-son, Todd Davis (Dr. Kimberly Brown), all of Albany, GA; a sister, Melba Beasley, Midland City; a brother, Max Corbin (Sue), Newton, AL; five grandchildren, Kristina Corbin, Brian Corbin (Jen), Matthew Corbin (Carley), Madison Corbin, and Kevin Corbin; three step-grandchildren, Jack Davis, Hannah Davis and David Schneider; five great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Carol Sue Senn (Nelson), Ariton, AL.
