A celebration of Doris’ life will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 pm. Let us honor her legacy by embracing each day with love, extending generosity to those around us, and living with the faith that moves mountains. Her life was a brilliant reflection of the joy and beauty that is possible when we live fully, love deeply, and give freely. May her memory continue to inspire us to reach higher, love stronger, and live with the same boundless spirit that she embodied every day.

Doris Ann Oliver Hamlin, a beacon of love and generosity, left us to join the angels on June 26, 2024. Born in the warm heart of Auburn, Alabama, on November 4, 1954, Doris's journey was one marked by courage, as she was part of the first integrated class to graduate from Loachapoka High School. Her story is one of resilience, love, and unwavering faith that has touched the lives of everyone she knew.

Doris's life was a testament to the power of love and commitment. She met the love of her life, Raymond Hamlin, in New Jersey, and together they crafted a beautiful tapestry of family and shared memories. In 2013, they planted their roots in Dothan, Alabama, where Doris continued to spread her warmth and kindness. She left behind a loving husband, Raymond, her devoted daughters, Malika Oliver Boles with husband Chad, and Kellean Oliver, and her cherished son, Raymond Lamar Hamlin. Doris's spirit will live on through her grandchildren, Nyesha Jett and Nyseir McDonald. She was a beloved daughter to her mother, Dorothy Oliver Roberts, and a guiding light to her siblings, Jerry Oliver, Jesse Oliver, Alcina Denise Oliver, Linda Oliver, Rick Roberts, and Melton Roberts. She will be missed by her special friends, Anna, Sherry, and Veronica. Doris now joins her fathers, William Dowdell and Kelvin Roberts, and her friends, Sophie and Marie, in eternal peace.

Professionally, Doris poured her heart into her work, leaving a legacy of dedication and service. For a decade, she was a familiar face at Hollinders at Newark International Airport, and for twenty-six years, she crafted countless moments of connection at Starbucks in New Jersey. Doris's leadership shone brightly as she supervised the bustling food court for HMS Host at Marriott Services. Her entrepreneurial spirit sparkled as she delighted in styling hair, adding beauty to the world one person at a time.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Doris's home was an oasis of joy and culinary delight. She loved to bowl, create beautiful sewing projects, and her cooking was her language of love. Every Sunday and Thanksgiving, her family gathered around her table, basking in the flavors and fellowship that only she could provide. Doris's presence was the cornerstone of family gatherings, and her support and love knew no bounds. She was not only a great mom and grandmother but an exceptional woman who embraced everyone with open arms.

Doris's faith was the compass that guided her through life's storms and seasons of celebration. As a member of Harvest Church in Dothan, AL, she lived out her faith with action and grace. She was loving, faith-filled, and generous — words that only begin to capture her essence.
