Doris Annette Wise Yates of Samson, AL passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at her home. She was 85 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Delmain and Rev. Elbert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Samson, AL with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Doris was born in Coffee County, AL on June 30, 1939, to the late Raymon and Mattie Sanders Wise. She enjoyed working puzzles, dancing, listening to music, fishing, and having cookouts for her family. Doris loved children, and spending time with her family, but above all else she loved her Lord.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Katherine Faith Yates; one grandson, Kaleb Damion Knight; two sisters, Ann Wesley, and Clara Bell Joyce; three brothers, Q.P. Wise, Harold Wise, and Pete Wise.

Doris is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Roy Yates of Samson, AL; children, Teresa Yates Furr (Doug) of Luverne, AL, Susan Yates Madrid (Mark) of Wicksburg, AL, Kennith Yates (Nikki) of Dothan, AL, Tim Yates (Jennifer) of Samson, AL, and Angela Yates Deal of Bonifay, FL; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Wayne Wise of Kinston, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, Southeast Health, Samson Medical Clinic, Samson Rescue, and Megan Driggers Davis for the excellent love and care they provided.
