Mrs. Doris L. Garrett Arnold of Dothan passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at her residence. She was 89.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint McBroom officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday, May 20, 2018, one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1619 S. Park Dothan, Al 36301.
Mrs. Arnold was a charter member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
She was born May 7, 1929, in Titusville, FL to the late George and Mary Garrett. Mrs. Arnold worked at the Dothan Eagle in the Composing Room as a teletypist and proofreader for 30 years. After retirement, she worked 11 years for Dr. Lawrence Arnold. During retirement years, she enjoyed playing Mexican Train with her friends at church. She was known for always putting others before herself.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Hubert Arnold, a son, Dennis A. Arnold, a son-in-law, Allan Henry, a grandchild Kathryn, a great-grandchild, Bailey, and a brother Thomas Earl Garrett.
Survivors include daughter Dale Arnold Clay of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren Blake Arnold (Lisa), Jennifer Arnold, Elizabeth Tindell (Adam), Matt Henry (Andrea), and Nikki Butler (Nicholas); great-grandchildren Christian, Coleson, J., Rhenn, Blakely, Mason, Caleb, and Branson, sister-in-law, Martha Arnold, numerous nieces, nephews, and special friend and caregivers, Judy Blakenship and Anita James.
Pallbearers will be: Blake Arnold, Matthew Henry, Nicholas Butler, Dr. Ray Arnold, Dr. David Arnold, and Danny Spurlock.
Honorary pallbearers will be; Fred Pearce, Bill Ed Pearce and Bobby Riley.
