DORIS NEWSOME TAYLOR
HEADLAND. . .Doris Newsome Taylor, a former resident of Headland, died Monday night, March 12, 2012, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. She was 88.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 15, 2012, in the New Hope Baptist Church, located in the Bertha community of Dale County, with Reverend Robert O. Smith officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL. 36303 or to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL. 36302.
Ms. Taylor was born in the Bertha community and was reared in Henry County, daughter of the late John Raymond Newsome and Dutchie Ophene Trawick Newsome. She lived most of her lifetime in Headland before moving to the nursing facility in Abbeville. Mrs. Taylor was a retired employee of Wex-Tex Manufacturing Company in Headland. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Newsome and a sister, Jean Chapman.
Surviving relatives include her son, Ronnie D. Taylor and wife, Shirley Taylor, Pinckard; a sister, Rebecca Savelle and husband, V.C. Savelle, Jr., Headland; two granddaughters, Kimberly Taylor Enfinger and husband, Chris, and Kristie Taylor Lewis and husband, Nick; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn Abraham, Christian Enfinger, Makenzie Lewis and Brady Lewis; a special niece and nephew, Darlene Brown and husband, Keith, and Larry Savelle and wife, Lynn.
