EDWIN  COMMUNITY. . .Doris Skinner Turner, a resident of the Edwin Community of Henry County, died Thursday afternoon, September 14, 2017. She was 83.


            Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 18, 2017, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Thomas D. Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Abbeville.


            Mrs. Turner was reared in Coffee County, daughter of the late James M. Skinner and Bessie Mae Andrews Skinner. She lived in Romeoville, Illinois for several years before returning to Edwin in 1972. Mrs. Turner was formerly employed by WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville. She was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.


            Surviving relatives include her husband, Austin L. Turner; seven daughters, Kathy Darin (Mike), Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Loretta Cohron (Kenny), Pelham, AL; Cheryl Turner (Gene), Echo Community; Patricia Patterson (Richard), Edwin; Tammie Brown (Mark), Ozark; Judy Layton (Jeremy), Headland; and Brandi Langley (Scott), Headland; three sons, Jim Turner (Debra), Edwin; Terry Turner, (Gloria), Abbeville; and Bob Turner, (Juanita), Abbeville; a brother, Leslie Skinner, Hartford; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
