Dorothy Ann Norris Adams Knowles, a resident of Kinsey, Alabama, passed away, Monday, September 9, 2024, at her home. She was 82.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 6, 2024, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church in Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the church. A private burial will be held in the Westview Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Headland, 301 East Church Street, Headland, AL 36345.
Ann Knowles was born in Sylacauga, Alabama and was reared in Dothan and Ozark, daughter of the late William Adelbert Norris and Maye Partridge Norris. She was a graduate of Carroll High School and attended Huntingdon College. Ann lived in Montgomery and Attalla before moving to Kinsey in 2018. She formerly owned and operated Message On Hold of Alabama. In earlier years, Ann was employed by WDHN and WTVY in sales and promotion and served as President of Dothan Ad Federation. Ann was a member of First Baptist Church of Headland where she was instrumental in establishing the “Wings of Hope Widows Ministry”. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse Dowling Adams and William Cecil “Billy” Knowles, Jr., her sister, Sue Davis, and her brother, Billy Norris.
She is survived by her daughters, Ellen Adams Russell (Alan), and Amanda Adams Dalton, all of Homewood, AL; step-daughter, Kelly Knowles Briceno, step-sons, William Kurt Knowles (Christy), and Mike Knowles (Wynne); grandchildren, Mindi Perlis (Stephen), Alex Dalton (Grant Wilson), Carli Dalton and Pierce Dalton, step-grandchildren, August Knowles Citlahua (Ivan), and Spencer Knowles; great-grandchildren, Luke Perlis, Ben Perlis, Heidi Perlis and Annie Perlis.
