Dorothy B. (Boswell) Wilbur, 82, died Monday, August 8, at her home after an extended illness.
Dot was born August 2, 1934 in Houston County, AL, the daughter of Thomas and Allie Boswell.
She grew up and went to school in Rehobeth area. She met John Wilbur, the love of her life while he was stationed at Ft.
She was a charter member of
Christ in many different areas. Her favorite mission was taking care of and ministering to the youngest members of the church. She loved this with all of her heart.
She worked at several manufacturing companies in Dothan before opening her home to taking care of children. She shared her home and family with a great many children and their families.
Her hobbies were bowling and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the ladies and mixed couples bowling leagues at Patricia and Dothan Lanes for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; three brothers Ralph, Chester, and
Joe Boswell; and one sister, Sybil Still.
She is survived by one son John Ricky Wilbur of Midland City, AL; two daughters Rhonda W. Hamm of Webb, AL; Sheri (Richard) Leonard of Punta Gorda, FL; 12 grandchildren Michael Wilbur of Prattville; Terry (Tara) Wilbur of Pinckard; Winter Gibson of High Springs, FL; Eddie (Angie) Hamm of Webb, AL; Kaye (Johnathan) Dukes of San Pedro, CA; Brandon Leonard and Tom Hill of Punta Gorda, FL; Erik Carlson, Erin Basset, and Emily Hancock of Omaha, NE; Kyle and Zach Baublitz of Midland City, AL; 19 great grandchildren Jessica Wilbur; Dustin, Harrison, and Olivia Wilbur; Andrew Berry; Alyssa, Michelle, and Makayla Hamm; Allie and Logan Dukes; Jordan and Aubrey Leonard; Cierra Hill; Ava Glove; Elise Carlson; Evelyn Hancock; Violet and Olive Bassett; Adriean Decker; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM at Ward Wilson Funeral Home, 2414 Hartford
