Dorothy Jean Singleton, 78, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Southeast Health Hospital. She was born on September 20, 1942, in Alabama to the late Frank Burkett and Frances Marie Johnson.


Funeral Service will be 10 AM, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home, burial to follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 30, 2021, from 6PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.


Dorothy was a loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.  She and her husband owned and operated Serv-All Vacuum in Dothan for many years. They enjoyed spending time together, especially traveling.  She was a faithful member of Cloverdale Baptist Church where she was active in the children’s music ministry. Dorothy taught piano and was a substitute teacher for many years at Dothan City Schools.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Kenneth Singleton, brother, William Johnson, son-in-law, Wayne Watkins, and a daughter-in-law, Denise Singleton.


Survivors include daughter, Kendra Watkins, granddaughter, Jadie (Scott) Shaw, sons, Billy (Melissa) Singleton, and Jimmy (Remona) Singleton,  sister, Joan McQuain, 13 other grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.


In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cloverdale Baptist Church; 806 Dexter Street, Dothan, AL.  36301.
