HEADLAND…Dorothy Jenkins (Dot) White, a former resident of Newville and Headland, died Tuesday afternoon, October 6, 2015, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 8, 2015, in the Union Springs Baptist Church, near Newville, with Reverend Sam White and Reverend Guy Causey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Advantage, 3245 Montgomery Highway, Suite 8, Dothan, AL 36303.
Mrs. White was a native of Gordon, Alabama and moved to Columbus, Georgia with her family as a teenager. She formerly lived in Newville and Headland before moving to the nursing facility. Mrs. White was a member of the Union Springs Baptist Church and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 422. She was formerly employed by Witt’s Department Store in Columbus, GA and Grant’s Department Store in Phenix City. AL. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husbands, Billy E. Adams and Johnny F. (Mann) White, a son, Mike Hix, and two brothers, Willis Roy Jenkins and Thomas B. Jenkins.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Ricky Hix (Kim), and John C. White (Barbara), all of Dothan, and Jeffery A. White (Anita), Birmingham; ten grandchildren, Sandy Hix (Jeff Lavallee), Chris Hix (Audrey), Jessica Hix (James Hunt), Caitlin Parker, Matthew Hix, Andrew Hix, Aaron White, Adam White, Tiffany Jakubowski (Chris), and Lacey Wamble (Scot); several great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Terry Farness, Aaron White, Nolan Hix, Shad Jones, Clint Jones, and Terry Jones.
