Mrs. Dorothy Nell Carpenter Baine of Samson, Alabama passed away Friday, November 16, 2012. She was 69.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Jimmy Eddins, Rev. Donnie Earles and Rev. Steve Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Travelers Rest Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, November 18, from 6 until 8 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the United Way (Spectra Care).
Dorothy was born March 15, 1943, in Coffee County, Alabama to the late David Benjamin and Rosie Viola Richardson Carpenter. For several years she worked as a Customer Service Manager for Wal-Mart. She later retired from Spectra Care as a Residential Manager with more than 18 years of service. She was known for her great cooking ability, especially her homemade biscuits, dressing and also chicken and dumplings. Affectionately known as “Dot”, she was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was of the Assembly of God faith.
In addition to her parents her three brothers: David, Carl and Bennie Ray Carpenter, as well as one sister, Betty Sue Simmons, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Bennie F. Baine, Samson; two sons: Jeff Baine, Samson and John Avery Baine (Mindy), Eufaula; four grandchildren: Teera Baine, Memphis, TN, Yhonna Baine, Montgomery, Sierra and Ricky Baine, Eufaula; two sisters: Mary Morrow (Andrew), Samson; Lucille Pinner, Deltona, FL; one brother, Lamar Carpenter, Gotha, FL; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends.
