Dorothy was born on December 15, 1928 in Macon, GA. She attended the University of Georgia. She was employed at various Air Force bases in GA, ND, TX, and AR, working primarily in base supply. Dorothy and her husband, Fred, had a winter home in South Texas along the Mexican border for more than 20 years. She and Fred travelled extensively through the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Dorothy loved to travel. Besides traveling she was a consummate game player. She loved to win no matter whether the game was Pinochle, Mexican Train, or Joker. Her favorite sport was Atlanta Braves baseball. She was an avid college football fan; first Arkansas, second Georgia, and third Alabama.

Dorothy was a lifelong Christian. She was an active member of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Fred C. Coffey, her parents, Phil and Lillie Mae Shealy of Macon, GA, her son, Fred C. Coffey, Jr. of Lafayette, GA, her sister, Sarah Anderson of Macon, GA, her brother, Phil C. Shealy, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, her grandson, Mark C. Winkler of Dothan, AL, and her son-in-law, Ritchie Winkler of Dothan, AL

Survivors include her daughters, Margie Winkler of Dothan, AL, Sheila (Martin) Dryden of Tulsa, OK, and Valerie (David) Adams of Tacoma, WA; her “adopted” daughter, Deborah (Jim) Holstine of Taylor, AL; her granddaughter, Leslie (John) Edwards of Birmingham, AL; her grandsons, Daniel Winkler of Taylor, AL, David and Chris Dryden of Tulsa, OK, Jeremy (Jennifer) Adams of Tacoma, WA, and Jonathan Adams of Tacoma, WA; and one very special great granddaughter, Mackenzie Long of Birmingham, AL.

A very special heartfelt thanks of love and appreciation to our Angels of comfort and care, Evie Riley, Cathy Harrelson, Tracie Shelton, and of course Addie Floyd who all have become part of our family over the past 18 months. Thanks also to the caring, gentle, and loving staff of Enhabit Hospice who were always available when we needed them most.
