Dorsey DeWayne “Wayne” Harley of Geneva passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Flowers Hospital. He was 55 years old.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva with Rev. Jim Mashburn and Rev. Chuck Grantham officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Head United Methodist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Poplar Head United Methodist Church, 1129 Hwy 163, Westville, FL 32464.


Wayne was born in Geneva, AL on August 23, 1962 to the late Joseph Henry and Allie Virginia Strickland Harley. Wayne graduated with the Geneva High School class of 1981. He proudly served as a volunteer firefighter in Geneva for over 30 years. He started working in the grocery industry during high school and continued up to a month prior to his death at C&M grocery as he was able. He also worked with Reliable Metal Products from 1984 until 2015 at which time he retired due to his health.


In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant brother.  


He is survived by his wife, Shan German Harley of Geneva; four sons, Nick Weyers of Wichita, KS, Jay Harley (Amber) of Bonifay, FL, Stephen Jenkins of Dothan, and Joseph DeWayne Harley (Maranda) of Slocomb; three daughters, Tabitha Armstrong (Justin) of Geneva, Michelle Goodyear of Geneva, and Chasitie Gilmore of Enterprise; mother-in-law who he loved like his own mother, Gladys German of Geneva; two sisters, Betty Richardson (Jerry) and Joyce Utley (Rod) all of Geneva; 10 grandchildren;  special friends, Wilmer Crews, whom he loved like a father, Carl Hildreth, whom he loved like a brother, Pat Childs, whom he loved and also referred to as his “other mother”, and numerous special friends from the Geneva Fire Department and  Reliable Metal Products.
