Douglas "Doug" Flood

Douglas “Doug” Eugene Flood, a resident of Cowarts, Alabama passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 16, 2021. He was 72.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Grimes officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 pm on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

Doug was born on September 9, 1949 in Frankfort, Indiana. He served in the US Army for about 9 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. Doug loved visiting and spending time with his grandkids. He enjoyed going anywhere but especially the beach or the mountains where he could always people watch. He was also a fan of the New York Yankees, the Atlanta Braves, the Auburn Tigers and the Indianapolis Colts. Doug was a member of Grandview Baptist Church.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Phyllis Flood; his daughters, Tammee Childree and Angela Piasecki; and his sister, Cathy Flood.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Angeline Ferguson Flood; his sons, Thomas “Tom” (Deb) Whitemire, Dane Jones, Jessie Jones and Patrick Jones; nine grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his brother; Terry Flood; and other extended family members.
