DOUGLAS EARL CARROLL
BLUE SPRINGS . . . Douglas Earl Carroll, a resident of Blue Springs, died late Monday morning, December 3, 2012 at his home. He was 76.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 5, 2012, in the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, between Edwin and Texasville, with Reverend Danny Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Ann Armstrong, 204 Rockdale Court, Dothan, AL 36301 or Home Health & Hospice Fund of Alabama, 824 U.S. Highway 231 South, Troy, AL 36081.
Douglas Carroll was a lifelong resident of Blue Springs, son of the late Furman Azer Carroll and Florine Bowden Carroll. He was a member of the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, the Blue Springs Masonic Lodge No. 582 and was a former member of the Barbour County Hospital Board. Douglas was engaged in farming most of his adult lifetime and served as a committee man on the A.S.C.S. Board of Barbour County. He was a licensed ham radio operator for many years. Douglas was preceded in death by a brother, Pat Carroll.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Marie Littlefield Carroll; a son, Rodney W. Williams, Montgomery; a brother, Winston Carroll and wife, Sherry, Hampton Cove, AL; a grandson, Travis Blake Williams, Montgomery; nieces and nephews, Cindy Carroll, Jana Lambeth, Marc Carroll, and Kris Carroll.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Masons.
