Douglas Matthew Briggs, Jr., known affectionately as Douglas to his friends and family, passed away on January 3, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on October 1, 1982, in Columbus, Ohio, Douglas was a vibrant soul whose presence was a source of joy and inspiration to all who knew him.








Douglas's early life was rooted in the heart of Ohio, where he was born to Douglas Briggs, Sr. and the late Evelyn Delores Briggs. His formative years were filled with the love of his family, including his cherished daughter Ciera, and his adoring sons, Kolby Xavier and Kade. Douglas was a beloved brother to Jessika Harris, and he held a special place in the hearts of his several other siblings, as well as his many nieces and nephews.


A man of many talents, Douglas obtained his GED and pursued a variety of occupations throughout his life. He had a knack for car detailing and found joy in working with trains. His work ethic and versatility in his professional life were admired by all who worked alongside him.


Douglas's interests were as diverse as his skills. He had a passion for sports, which was evident in his extensive collection of baseball cards and his love for watching baseball and basketball games. His enthusiasm for the games was infectious, and he often shared this joy with his children, instilling in them the same love for sports that he held dear.


Beyond his hobbies, Douglas had a particular fondness for shoes, always ensuring he stepped out in style. His unique taste in footwear was just one of the many ways he expressed his vibrant personality.


Those who knew Douglas often described him as a "handful of different people," a testament to his multifaceted nature. He was a dedicated father, a loyal brother, a dependable colleague, and a cherished friend. In every role he played, Douglas strove to be the best version of himself, a pursuit that inspired others to do the same.
