DOVIE LUNSFORD SLAWSON
CLIO, ALABAMA. . .Dovie Lunsford Slawson, a former resident of Clio, Alabama, died early Saturday morning, August 2, 2014, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 3, 2013, in the Keahey Funeral Home in Clio, with Reverend Ricky Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Elam Baptist Church Cemetery in Elamville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Keahey Funeral Home. Holman Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.
Ms. Slawson was born and reared in Barbour County, daughter of the late Tean Britton Lunsford and L W Evans Lunsford. She lived in Clio most of her lifetime. Ms. Slawson was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and was a former member of the Clio Baptist Church. She was formerly employed by Phillips Van Heusen in Ozark and Clio. Mrs. Slawson was preceded in death by a sister, and three brothers.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Patricia Slawson Strickland (Mike), Headland; a son, Andy Slawson (Connie), Elamville, AL; three sisters, Dorothy Adams (Joe), Ozark; Elaine Casey, Ariton; and Betty McCraney, Abbeville; a brother, Ladon Phillips (Winnie), Montgomery; a sister-in-law, Billie Jean Lunsford, Union Springs; three grandchildren, Cindy Carroll, Shannon Slawson, and Andrew Slawson (Julie); three great-grandchildren, Colin Slawson, Taylor Slawson, and London Slawson; a special friend, Mary Strickland; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Vic Coker, Bruce Casey, Jodie Bezdek, Phillip Adams, Carl Price, and Phillip Hunter.
