Dr. Alfred Randall, Jr., a resident of Dothan, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018 at his residence. He was 93.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Alpine Baptist Church Cemetery in Alpine, Alabama with Dr. Rickey Plummer officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice, 1512 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301.
Dr. Randall was born April 24, 1925 in Jefferson County, Alabama to Francis Alfred and Nora Towery Randall and lived the early years of his life in Birmingham. After graduation from Vincent High School in Shelby County, he attended Auburn University where he graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine. He was a firm believer in education and always wanted to keep learning.
Dr. Randall was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. He practiced veterinary medicine in Childersburg for many years prior to his retirement in 1971. After he closed the clinic, he established a railroad and salvage business which he operated for several years. He was a private pilot, an avid hunter, woodworker, metal worker and beekeeper. Dr. Randall was a member of Alpine Baptist Church in Alpine, Alabama.
Dr. Randall is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Vivian Randall; his son, F. A. Randall; a grandson, Josh Darden and two sisters, Randy Hougland and Dorothy Burbank.
Survivors include three daughters, Vivian Parks (David), Mary Masterson and Gail Darden, all of Dothan; five grandchildren, Amy Semeniuk (Mike), Susan Crump (Matthew), Joy Lane (Brian), Gracie Lane (Josh), and Kathryn McInnish (Carl); seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cynthia McCranie and Jo McArdle; several nieces and nephews.
