ABBEVILLE. . .Dr. Jerry Myers Odom, a resident of Thomas Mill Creek, Lake Eufaula, died Monday afternoon, November 3, 2014, in a Dothan hospital. He was 70.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Brandon Turner and Reverend Gerald Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Judson Baptist Church “Building Fund”, c/o Marilyn Turner, P.O. Box 56, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Dr. Odom was born and reared in Dothan, son of the late Kenneth Lee Odom and Dorothy Myers Odom. He was a 1962 graduate of Dothan High School and attended the University of Alabama, Dothan branch. Dr. Odom received a degree as a Chiropractic Physician from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. He attended post graduate classes in Atlanta and Dallas. Dr. Odom practiced chiropractic care in Columbus, Mississippi and Enterprise before returning to Dothan to compete his chiropractic career in the Odom Chiropractic Clinic, practicing for a total of twenty-seven years. He served on numerous chiropractic committees representing the Dothan area as well as the state level. Dr. Odom was a former member of the Lions Club and Civitan Club in Dothan. He was a member of the Judson Baptist Church and a former member of the Cloverdale Baptist Church in Dothan.
Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty years, Sue McIntosh Odom, a son, Mitchell Lee Odom (Beverly), all of Abbeville; four grandchildren, Cody Odom (Courtney Anderson), Courtney Odom, Hunter Odom, and Nikki Smith; a brother-in-law, Paul McIntosh (Judy), a nephew, Dr. Paul McIntosh (Dr. Emily McIntosh), all of Huntsville; two great nephews, special friends, Neal and Martha Jenkins, Dothan; and several very special cousins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Cody Odom, Eddie Odom, Randy Odom, Terry Bruce, Rob Brown, Todd Johnson, and Eric Jones.
