Dr. John C. Miller of Dothan passed away at home on June 1, 2012. He was 90 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh C. Miller of Topeka, Kansas and Lillie Belle Parkman of Dothan. He is survived by Witt Zbinden Miller, his wife of 63 years and by his children: Margaret Witt Miller, Lillian Campbell (Thomas), Mary Jayne Miller, Martha Gene Miller, John C. Miller, Jr. (Audrey) all of Dothan and Barbara Hill (ED) of Cumming, GA and six grandchildren.
Dr. Miller was a practicing physician in Geneva from 1952 until 1996. He served on the Board of Directors at the Geneva Wiregrass Hospital and as the medical Director for the Wiregrass Nursing Home. He also served on the Board of Directors at the American Bank in Geneva.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Geneva from 1952 until 2001 when he moved to Dothan. While there he served as the deacon, as Sunday School Director and as a teacher for one of the men’s Sunday School Classes. He was active in the music program as a choir member and a soloist. In Dothan he was a member of the Cloverdale Baptist Church from 2001 until 2004 when he joined Heritage Baptist Church of Dothan.
Arrangements are being handled by Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva. The Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Geneva, AL on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive guest one hour prior to the service starting at 12:00 noon. Following the service there will be a reception in the fellowship hall. Later in the afternoon the family will observe a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Geneva or to Samaritan’s Pure Ministry.
