Dr. Norma Jean John Williams, 93, a resident of Wicksburg, died Thursday, October 29, 2020 at her residence.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Williams, Reverend Dan Sheppard and Gabriel Rutledge officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:30 on Sunday prior to service time. A private family graveside will be held.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hacoda Baptist Church, 185 Camp Victory Rd., Samson, Alabama, 36477.


Norma was born on June 20, 1927 in Vienna, Missouri to George Bearden and Zanetta Watkins John. She studied for many years in pursuit of high, personal educational goals to enrich and enhance her service to the Lord Jesus Christ. She is a graduate of Blue Mountain College with a B.A. Degree in Bible, History and English. She earned her Masters Degree in Historical Geography at the University of South Florida and her Doctorate in Christian Education at Luther Rice Seminary. Since 1973, she spent time in archeological digs in Israel and led annual Biblical Pilgrimages thru the land of Israel. She continued to teach the Word of God while living at Somerset Assisted Living until her recent illness. Norma was a member of Hacoda Baptist Church.


She is predeceased by her parents, a brother, George B. John, Jr., her husband, H. Fred Williams, a daughter, Dana Lyndale Drawdy, a great-grandson, Christian Carnahan, and a granddaughter, Amy Nicole Drawdy.


Survivors include two daughters, Daryle Scott (Brad) of Tampa, FL and Danise Peters (Donny) of Wicksburg; a son, David Williams (Debbie) of Cary, NC; grandchildren, Brian Williams (Sara), Jeff Scott (Sara), John Scott (Kirstin), Allyn Carnahan (Austin), Matthew Williams (Jenna), Amanda Nagy (Kevin), Joshua Williams and Tyler Peters (Amy); three great grandchildren, Blakely Peters, Savannah Scott and Hunter Scott.
