Dr. Rita Clare Heidisch-Davis

Dr. Rita Clare Heidisch-Davis, a resident of Midland City, passed away at her residence on Sunday, January 5, 2020 following an extended illness. She was 84.

A memorial service honoring her life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 11, 2020 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Monsignor Patrick Gallagher officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10-11 am.

Dr. Heidisch-Davis was born on May 21, 1935 in Detroit Michigan and lived there the early years of her life. She was an 8th grade teacher for several years before going to Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Heidisch-Davis became a pediatrician and an emergency room physician working in hospitals across the United States including Tulane in New Orleans. During her medical career she started the first Aids Clinic in the southeast in the 1980’s. Dr. Heidisch-Davis loved working in her garden especially her azalea’s. Her love of designing and decorating was one of the reasons the family moved frequently. She loved hosting parties and was very outgoing, she loved being with her family.

Dr. Heidisch-Davis was preceded in death by her parents, Roman and Teresa Heidisch, and by her brother, Jerry Heidisch.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Dr. Clifton B. Davis; her children, Kirk (Regina) Davis, Eric (Lagina) Davis, and Lara (Nils) Kessler; her grandchildren, Shane Snider, Noel Kessler, Grace Kessler, Georgia Davis, and Roman Davis; her sisters, Marilynn and Judy; and by her loving companion cat, Hagrid.
