Dr. Wolfram Herbert Enseleit, 62, of Dothan passed away at his home on Monday, November 4, 2013.
Memorial services will be held 11am Friday, November 8, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Kyle Gatlin and Rev. Gillian Lisenby Walters officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church Missions, 3610 West Main Street, Dothan, AL, 36303.
Dr. Enseleit was born May 16, 1951 in Hannover, Germany to the late Erich Herbert and Dorothea Emma Enseleit. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Valparaiso University in 1973, his Medical Tech training from Methodist Hospital in Gary, IN, he attained his Ph.D. from Tulane University in 1981 and his M.D. from the LSU School of Medicine in 1986. Dr. Enseleit was a Commander in the U.S. Navy with medical tours in Panama City, FL, Pensacola, FL, New Orleans, LA, Rhode Island, San Diego, CA, Subic Bay, Philippines, and ending his military career at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA as a staff physician and the Emergency Medicine Research Coordinator. Most recently, Dr. Enseleit was an Emergency Medicine Staff Physician at Southeast Alabama Medical Center, the EMS Off-line Medical Control Director for the Headland Ambulance Service and Abbeville Rescue.
Dr. Enseleit was a recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Republic Philippines President's Unit Citation, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Joint Services Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the National Defense Medal during his military career. He was certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and held state medical licenses in Alabama and Louisiana.
Dr. Enseleit was a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians since 1987 and a Fellow since 1993. He has been published on 6 separate occasions and has been privileged to conduct several medical instructional presentations during his medical career. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Missions Team to Panama for 3 years as a medical advisor. Dr. Enseleit was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church.
Dr. Enseleit was preceded in death by his parents Erich Herbert Enseleit and Dorothea Emma Pietsch Enseleit; his aunt Gerda Enseleit; his brothers, Detlev Enseleit and Dieter Enseleit.
Survivors include his wife Debra Enseleit; his son Stephen Enseleit and his wife Jennifer; his daughter Erin Surrett and her husband Myles; brothers, Martin Enseleit and his wife Janet, and Ludwig Enseleit; sisters-in-law, Mary Beth Bellavia and her husband Andy, Gloria Martin, and Gretchen Enseleit; a brother-in-law Richard Martin and his wife Teddy; grandchildren, Garrett Enseleit, Gavin Enseleit and Avery Enseleit; an aunt Alice Weiser and her husband Erich; nieces and nephews, Tristan Enseleit, Marieke Enseleit, Stacey Enseleit, Heather Enseleit, Jason Enseleit, Andrew Enseleit, Rachel Bellavia, Zachary Bellavia, Laura Ford, Ed Ford, Rachel Mitchell, and Danny Mitchell; great nieces and nephews, Harper Ford, Ella Ford, Sam Mitchell, Lizz Mitchell, and Katie Mitchell.
