ABBEVILLE. . .Drenda Champion Williams, a resident of Abbeville, died Tuesday, March 24, 2020, in a Dothan hospital. She was 73.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 27, 2020, in the Shorterville Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Drenda Williams was born and reared in Shorterville, Alabama, eldest daughter of the late John Russell “Rusty” Champion and Margaret White Champion. She lived in Montgomery before moving to Abbeville in 1981. Drenda was retired from the State of Alabama Rehabilitation Services. She was a member of Shorterville Baptist Church. Drenda was preceded in death by a sister, Deloris Champion Bailey.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Lisa Phillips, Punta Gorda, FL; two sons, Mark Williams (Pam) and Scott Williams, all of Dothan; two sisters, Russelle Champion and Dianne Champion, both of Abbeville; two brothers, Mitchell Champion (Judy), Flomaton, AL; and J. P. Champion (DeeDee), Abbeville; three grandchildren, Jake Williams, Tyler Phillips and Amanda Phillips; several nieces and nephews.
