Durwood Elton Hawkins, Jr., 56 of Midland City, Alabama passed away Thursday December 1, 2016 at Dale Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held 3pm Friday at Midland City Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Midland City Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6pm - 8pm.

Durwood was born July 30, 1960 in Dothan, Alabama and lived in Midland City all his life. He was a 1978 graduate of Dale County High School. He was employed for over 20 years at the IGA in Midland City, and currently employed for the last 20 years with The Grocery Outlet in Ozark, Alabama. He was an avid video game player, liked to read, loved animals, loved to cook, and was a grill master.

He was predeceased by his mother, Daphne Hawkins; his grandparents, Alry Wilson, Georgia Godwin Wilson, Loys L. Hawkins and Causie Mae Hawkins.

Durwood is survived his wife, Phoebe Hawkins; his father, Elton Hawkins and his sister, Delaine (Earl) Spencer; several cousins.
