Walter Dwain Elliott



Dwain Elliott, age 77 a lifelong resident of the Camp Springs Community of Henry County died early Sunday morning, August 26, 2018 in the ER of a Dothan hospital.



Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in the Union Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Hudspeth and Rev. Ray S. Reiley officiating, Mr. Richard Worsham brother in law speaking and Randy Crenshaw of Family First Funeral Care directing.  Burial will follow in the Camp Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.  The body will be placed in the church sanctuary at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday.  The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Monday at Family First Funeral Care in Dothan.



Dwain was born in the Camp Springs Community son of the late Bill Elliott and Ouida Ivey Elliott.  He was engaged in farming and formerly owned and operated the Headland Machine Shop. Dwain had a love and passion for automobile racing and especially dirt track racing.  He built his own dirt track racing car and numbered it 312.  Dwain and his family spent many fun filled Saturday evenings racing at his father-in-law Arthur Harris’s Chattahoochee Valley Speedway in Haleburg.  He had served in the Army Reserve, was a member of Union Free Will Baptist Church and in earlier years had been a member of the Camp Springs Baptist Church.  Other than his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Amanda Jo Elliott and a brother Billy Elliott.



Survivors include his loving wife Joann Harris Elliott of Camp Springs, daughter Sandy (Jeremy) Beasley of Haleburg, a very special grandson Haiden Beasley, 3 brothers Doyle (Lillian) Elliott, Braxton (Sharon) Elliott both of Camp Springs and Jerry (Teresa) Elliott of Birmingham and several nieces and nephews also survive.
