Dwayne Roger Stephenson, 49, of Dothan, Alabama, passed from this life on August 7, 2024, from natural causes. Dwayne was born on November 17, 1974, in Enterprise, Alabama to parents, Roger Carroll Stephenson of Enterprise and Delphia Ann (Clower) Stephenson of Brundidge, Alabama. Dwayne was four years old when the family moved from Enterprise to Dothan, Alabama, where he grew up. He graduated from Northview High School in 1994. He attended college at Faulkner University where he met his wife of 24 years, Jennifer Rebecca Hayes from Munford, Alabama. They married on October 14, 1995. They have two sons, Kaleb Dwayne Stephenson and William Cain Stephenson. The family spent time in Birmingham & Dothan, Alabama; Albany & Savannah, Georgia; and Myrtle Beach & Greenville, South Carolina. Dwayne worked for the court system in Jefferson County for 5 years, as mortgage loan officer for 5 years, an Emergency Medical Technician for 20 years. He ended his career as a representative for Verizon. In 2019, he moved back to Dothan to help care for his aging parents.
Dwayne had a “heart of gold” and was willing to help anyone in need. He had a very quick wit and awesome sense of humor. If you were around him any length of time, he would have you laughing. He was very knowledgeable about many different things and enjoyed reading, learning and researching new information. He loved playing checkers and chess and had many, many books on how to win. Hunting and fishing were his passions from a very young age. He was an avid sports fan and really enjoyed watching the Alabama Crimson Tide play football.
Dwayne is survived by two sons, Kaleb Stephenson and William Stephenson of Atlanta, Georgia; his mother, Delphia Ann (Clower) Stephenson of Dothan, Alabama; one brother, Dale (Laura) Stephenson of Headland, Alabama; one sister, Krista (Brian) Smith of Slocomb, Alabama; Several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Carroll Stephenson of Dothan, Alabama; four grandparents, Sam and Olean (McLean) Stephenson of Enterprise, Alabama and Dewey and Dola (Forrester) Clower of Webb, Alabama; and a cousin, Jeremy Stephenson of Enterprise, Alabama.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Monday, August 12, 2024, at Westgate Church of Christ in Dothan, Alabama, at 11:00 am with ministers, Chris Jones officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 am at Westgate Church. Interment will be at MeadowlawnCemetery in Enterprise, Alabama at a later date.
