E D “PAPA” WALKER
HEADLAND… E D “PaPa” Walker, a resident of the Headland, Alabama, passed away late Monday night, January 29, 2024, at a Dothan hospital. He was 77.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend Bobby Joe Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday evening, February 9, 2024 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Walker was born in Newville, Alabama to the late Archie Walker and Ora Lee Spann Walker. He lived in Newville, Alabama as a child before moving to Headland, Alabama where he lived his entire life. He attended the Headland Northside High School. At an early age he dedicated his life to Christ. He was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Headland, Alabama. He was very active in his church, in which he was a member of the Male Chorus Choir. He actively attended church until his health prevented him from attending. He worked at West Point Stevens until its closure. After he worked many different jobs from Flavor House, DSI, and his last job was at the Wiregrass Rehab Center before his retirement. Everyone who knew PaPa knows that he would go above and beyond to help you no matter how big or small, he would get it done. He loved his family whole heartedly. He was the backbone of his family.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, H.C. Walker; his sisters, Barbara Brackins and Ruby Lindsey; and his grandson, Rrandon “Popeye” Flucker.
Leaving to cherish his precious memories is his loving and devoted wife, Adell Walker; his daughter, Angela Faye Salter (Gary); his son, Keyun Hill; his sister, Bobbi Thornton; his brothers, Carl Ray Walker (Ruby), Larry Walker (Brenda), and Bobby Charles Walker (Virginia); his grandsons, Carlos Flucker (Patricia), Brandon Flucker (Brandy), Ky Hill, KJ Hill, Gary Salter, Jr., and Tre Salter; his granddaughters, Tamaya Riley (Tre) and Jonaye Monday; his great-grandchildren, Karlos, Tyler, Julian, Sabastian, Teagan, Tre, Jr. (TJ), Sabryn, Braden, BJ, and Malaia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
