Earl Michael Powell of Samson, AL passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was 75 years old. There will be a private family service held at a later date.

Mr. Powell was born in Florala, AL on March 8, 1949, to the late Malcolm Mike and Edna Fulford Powell. Earl was a lifelong resident of the Marl Community and a 1968 graduate of Samson High School. After graduation he attended Troy State University. Earl followed in the footsteps of his father working in the logging industry for many years. He also had a great passion for quail hunting and working with his Brittany Spaniels.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Scotty Curry and brother-in-law, Rick Sormrude.

Earl is survived by his son, Monty Powell (Margie, Ashton, Braxton); three siblings, Edgar Powell, Gloyce Curry (Joe) and Lawonna Sormrude; and many nieces and nephews.
