Earline Owens Alford Wilson of Taylor, formerly of Samson, passed away at her home on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the age of 90.  A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at New Home Baptist Church with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.  Memorial donations may be made to the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Hilda Wilson, 407 Mixon Miller Rd., Samson, AL 36477; or to Smile Train, 41 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10010 (Surgery for Children with Cleft Pallets).


Mrs. Wilson grew up in Samson and graduated from Samson High School, Class of 1943.  She later graduated from business college in Jacksonville, Fla. She was a longtime member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Taylor.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Bell Weeks Owens, her husband of 46 years, Robert C. “Bob” Wilson, five brothers and four sisters.


She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Freddie Alford of Pelham, her grandchildren, Bryan and Amy Alford of Gulf Shores and Alyson and Mike Ogles of Alabaster, and her beloved great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Alford and Owen and Eli Ogles.


She is also survived by a brother, Hollis Owens of Jacksonville, Fla., two sisters, Sybil Alford of Ashford and Betty Thompson of Samson, many nieces and nephews including a special niece and caregiver, Elizabeth Thompson.  Her loving, caring spirit, humor and zest for living were an inspiration to all who knew her.


The family wishes to thank Dr. Walter J. Doty, her longtime friend and physician, and the wonderful ladies Pace, Kat, Dee and Teresa of Alacare Hospice.
