Edgar Cyrus Ross, 64, a resident of Grimes, passed away June 22, 2012 at his residence.


Funeral services will be held 4 pm Sunday at Sunset Memorial Park with Dan Cumbie officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing.


Edgar was born July 27, 1947 in Tuscaloosa, AL and lived the early part of his life there. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a professional boxer and trained in Orlando, FL. His boxing name was “Mad Dog” Ross and he had 61 fights, 57 of which he won. Mr. Ross lived in Birmingham prior to moving to Pensacola in 2006. He has resided in Grimes for the past 2 years.


Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his parents C.W. “Bill” Ross and Frances Price Ross, grandparents, Cyrus W. Ross, Nora Brown Ross, M.A. Price and Foy Whittle Price, and a brother Ronnie Ross.


Survivors include his uncles and aunt, Jack Ross of Clopton, AL, John B. Price of Dothan, Joe Wayne and Sharon Price of Ozark; cousins, Geraldine Thompson, Judy Truett, Don Buckhalt, Brenda Trawick, Bob Marshall, Tommy Price, Mary Ann Carlton, Mike Price, Tina Visintainer, and Rue Joiner; several friends also survive.
