EDITH SAULS SMITH
HALEBURG…Edith Sauls Smith, a resident of Henry County, near Haleburg, died Friday morning, August 2, 2013, at her home. She was 55.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, August 4, 2013, in the Haleburg Baptist Church with Reverend Ray Cobb and Reverend Matthew Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in the Haleburg Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Haleburg Baptist Church, c/o Sara Pitchford, 3108 County Road 112, Columbia, AL 36319.
Edith Smith was born and reared in Henry County, daughter of the late William Thomas Sauls and Emma Ruth Blankenship Sauls. She was a graduate of Abbeville High School and attended Wallace Community College. Edith was formerly employed by the Southeast Alabama Medical Center as a Transcriptionist. She was a resident of Haleburg since 1980 and was a member of the Haleburg Baptist Church. Edith was preceded in death by a brother, William O’Neal Sauls.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Espy W. Smith, Haleburg; three daughters, Amanda Lynn Smith (Willie Thornton), Midland City; Elizabeth Shepard (Brandon), and Katie Smith, all of Haleburg; two brothers, Wayne Sauls (Donna), Abbeville; Billy Sauls (Michelle), Garrett, KY; seven grandchildren, Makayla Smith, Cameron Smith, Khloe Smith, Kylee Thornton, Eli Shepard, Emma Shepard, and Mady Grace Shepard; several aunts and uncles.
