Edna Fellows Christmas was born at home in Ashford, AL, on March 5, 1913. She died peacefully on August 19, 2016, at the age of 103 in Auburn, AL, in the home she shared with her daughter, Edna Earl. Edna remained active until the time of her death. She had a zest for living, a sense of humor, and a concern for others throughout her life. She was a member of Auburn First Baptist Church and enjoyed going to prayer meetings as she was able. She enjoyed shopping and going out to eat. She was active in the AU campus club and was often found dressed in orange and blue despite the season. She was one of Auburn University's oldest and truest fans and was always quick to say "War Eagle!" She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and especially with her great grandchildren. Her life motto was "Let me live in the house by the side of the road and be a friend to man." She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert Earl Christmas; her parents Fred Lester Fellows, Sr., and Idella Battles Fellows; her brothers and their wives- Hugh Lawson Fellows (Ruth) and Fred Lester Fellows, Jr.(Faye); and a number of brother- and sister- in- laws. She is survived by her daughters, Edna Earl Christmas and Merry Christmas Tarrer (Ray), grandchildren Hope Tarrer McLeod (Steven) and Seth Tarrer (Mary), seven great grandchildren: Mary Beth, Josh, and Caleb McLeod, and Sam, Owen, JP, and Caroline Tarrer, as well as a host of family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 3-5pm at Jeffcoat-Trant funeral home in Opelika, AL. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 22, 2016, at 1:00pm at Bluff Springs Baptist Church in Ashford, AL, with a visitation from 12:00-1:00 pm at the church.
