Edna Rose Cureton was born in Campbellton, Florida on October 5, 1945 to Chalmers and Edna Cureton. She died in Dothan, Alabama on June 14, 2024. She relocated to Dothan with her family in 1955. She graduated from Dothan High School in 1963 and proudly served in the United States Air Force for 4 years.

She received a bachelor’s degree in education and social work from Troy State University in 1972. She worked for several years as a teacher and social worker. Later in her career she became a licensed nurse. She loved working with the elderly in nursing homes.

She dedicated her life to the service of others, especially her family. She always made the best cornbread dressing for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to share at family gatherings. It will be missed.

After a lengthy hospital stay from an accidental fall in November 2022 she went to live with her sister Mary in Taylor, Alabama April 2023. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Southern Care Hospice and Amedisys Home care for their care and dedication to Edna Rose during her stay at Marys. Special thanks to Donna, Canisha, and Kathy. Also, thanks to the VA care system and DD for their care the last two weeks of her life. It was very much appreciated.

Edna Rose was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama where she played an active role in the children’s ministry.

Edna Rose was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bobby Joe, Johnny Mack, Russ, and Earl, sisters Willie Mae and Virginia Ruth, and her special friend Fred Hughes.
