Edward “Ed” Wayne Simon, 79, a resident of Dothan passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at Southeast Health following a brief illness.


Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Glover Funeral Home with Bro. Wallace Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at the Wicksburg Assembly of God with Bro. Tim Simmons officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.


Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to, Liberty Free Will Baptist Building Fund, 2620 Eddins Road, Dothan, AL 36301.


Ed was born September 16, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Edward & Ruby Lee (Jinright) Simon, before moving to Troy, Alabama at the age of 5. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1963, serving for 8 years, following his military service, he worked as a telephone engineer for 20 years with GTE. Before his retirement, he also served as an avionics technician at Ft. Novosel for 11 years. He enjoyed fishing & camping and deeply loved all of his family. Ed was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and served his church as music director for 10 years.


He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lorenda Lynn Walker-Smith; and a sister, Mary Alice Stokes.


He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Simon of Dothan; a son, Michael Simon (Stephanie) of Taylor; two daughters, Laura Lee Reagan (Johnny) of Ozark, and Emily Peluso (Mike) of Dothan; seven grandchildren, Amanda Braswell (Brandon), Tiffany Paige Whittington, Jamie Uhler, Izzy Peluso, Maggie Peluso, Desiree Walker, and Misty Webb (Logan); nine great-grandchildren, Gage Workman, Bailee Braswell, Maddie Uhler, Macie Uhler, Ryken Walker, Jewell Walker, Bella Walker, Ryan Webb, and Caitlyn Webb; one brother, Johnny Simon (Martha) of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
