Edward F. Northington, 70, a resident of Dothan passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Father Patrick Gallagher and Rev. John Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Dothan City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Northington was born June 17, 1944 in Montgomery, Alabama and moved to Dothan at an early age. He was a 1963 graduate of Dothan High School and a graduate of Troy State University. He joined the U.S. Army and served with the Special Forces for 17 years including 2 tours in the Vietnam War. He was self-employed in Mobile and worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Melbourne, FL for 15 years prior to his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the Green Valley Country Club.

Mr. Northington was preceded in death by his parents William Thomas and Sadie Flynt Northington and a sister Holly Northington Storey.

Survivors include his wife Beth Northington of Dothan; his children, Bill Northington, Lynn Northington, Brian Williams, and Wade and Kimanh Williams; grandchildren, Lydia Williams and Lily Northington; a niece Shannon Storey (Tim) Barron; great-nieces and great-nephews T.J. and Holly Barron.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Green Valley Country Club.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Ed's caregiver Jennifer Hovey, his hospice nurse Angela, hospice aide Latonya, and Randy Dulac for the loving care given to Ed.
