ABBEVILLE. . .Edward Frank Wallace “Ed” Karl, a resident of Abbeville, died Thursday afternoon, January 11, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 86.
There are no memorial or funeral services planned at this time. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Karl was born and reared in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Edward Roy Karl and Lucille Lily Pearl Degner Karl. As a young man, he served his country in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Karl lived in Lombard, Illinois before moving to Turner II Estates on Lake Eufaula in Henry County, Alabama in 1997. He was of the Lutheran Faith and attended Judson Baptist Church. Mr. Karl was retired from United Airlines in the air freight department. In earlier years, he served as a Charter Boat Captain at Burnham Harbor in Chicago. Mr. Karl was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Karl.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Natalie Huizenga (Steve), Hayward, Wisconsin; and Susan Favia (Nick), Abbeville; a son, Edward Karl, Hayward, Wisconsin; a sister, Arlene Gouskos (Nicholas) of Illinois; a brother, Robert Karl of Illinois; four grandchildren, Tim Leary, Edward Karl, Danny Karl and Dominic Favia; a great-grandson, Lucas Leary.
