ASHFORD. . .Edward G. “Ed” Moring, a resident of Ashford, died Friday morning, October 27, 2017, at his home. He was 78.
Funeral services, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 30, 2017, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at the mortuary in Headland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303.
Ed Moring was born and reared in Henry County, near Abbeville, son of the late Wilson Glispy “Dock” Moring and Sara Jane Stokes Moring. At an early age, he enlisted in the Army Reserve Unit in Abbeville. He later enlisted in the U. S. Army and served twenty years before retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. Ed served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster. After retirement from the military, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator in Florida. Ed formerly lived in Altha, Florida and Cowarts, Alabama before moving to Ashford in February 2017. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Anthony Moring, a sister, Ann Moring Tew and a brother, Travis Moring.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Glenda Scott Moring; a daughter, Allison Ray (Thomas), Ashford; and a son, Lance G. Moring (Victoria), Sulphur, LA; a brother, Stokes Moring (Sharon), Abbeville; four grandchildren, Simon Davis (Sarah), Steven Davis, Seth Davis (Kristy) and Hunter Moring; eleven great-grandchildren.
