NEWVILLE. . .Edward James Sterling, Jr., a resident of Newville, died early Monday morning, April 24, 2023, in the Ft. Gaines Health & Rehab in Ft. Gaines, Georgia. He was 67.


            There are no memorial or funeral services planned at this time. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


            Mr. Sterling was born in St. Clair, Michigan and was raised in the West Palm Beach, Florida area where he lived most of his lifetime. Mr. Sterling moved to Newville in 2008.  He was formerly employed as a HVAC Technician. Mr. Sterling was preceded in death by his father, Edward James Sterling, Sr., his mother, Nadine Marie Younkins Sterling, a son, Michael Gene Sterling and a sister, Jan.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Diane Walker Sterling, a son, Jimmy Sterling, two step-children, Melody Smith and Candice Keeley, a brother and a sister, five grandchildren, Kayla Smith, Alyssa Smith, Leigha Smith, Franklin Keeley, Jr. and Daniel Keeley.
