Edwin O. Carroll of New Brockton, AL passed away July 14, 2012 at his home following a brief illness. He was born August 3, 1929. He was a successful owner/operator of Big Bear Grocery Store in Enterprise, AL for twenty-five years. Prior to this, he worked in management for thirty-five years with A & P Grocery in Dothan and Enterprise. Edwin was a deacon and faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was an active charter member for thirty-seven years in the Coffee County Gideons. He was a member of the Enterprise chapter of Sons of the American Revolution.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Lane Harris, Rev. Mike Medley and Elder Fred Averett officiating. Burial will follow in the New Brockton City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise directing. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 1:30 pm until service time.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Kelley Carroll, his parents, Marvin and Bonnie Carroll, his stepmother, Mrs. Lena Mae Carroll and his brothers, Harrell Carroll and Ferrell Carroll.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Rex Yance, Dothan, AL; son, Stan Carroll, Atlanta, GA; 2 grandchildren: Chad Yance, Scottsdale, AZ, Dana Wright (Brad), Lakeland, FL; one great-grandchild, Mary Oliver Wright; sisters: Ella Jean Vaughan and Peggy Stroud (Paul), all of Elba, AL, Betty Owen (John) and Callie Jones (Doyce), all of Enterprise; sisters-in-law, Winnie Brooks (Talmadge), Enterprise. Shirley Kelley, Mt. Vernon, IL; several nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
