ELBA RAY MORRISON
SHORTERVILLE. . .Elba Ray Morrison, a resident of Shorterville, died late Tuesday afternoon, March 6, 2012, at his home. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 8, 2012, in the Shorterville Baptist Church with Reverend Ray S. Reiley and Reverend Mike Lee officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL. 36302.
Mr. Morrison was a lifelong resident of Shorterville, son of the late Harvey Clement Morrison and Mary Fortson Morrison. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and later retired from the Army National Guard in the Abbeville unit with rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Morrison was a member of the Shorterville Baptist Church. He was also retired as a truck driver from the Henry Farm Center in Abbeville. Mr. Morrison was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Norton Morrison, grandsons, Clarence Blankenship and Blake Spivey and two sisters, Nettie Hutto and Bertha Wood.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Sue Blankenship and husband, Ronald, Shorterville; Karen Tiraboschi and husband, Terry, Eastman, GA; two sons, Wayne Morrison and wife, Barbara, and Charlie Price and wife, Russelle, all of Abbeville; a brother, Wilburn Morrison, Dazell, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Tim Blankenship (Teisha), Jay Morrison (Frannie), Shawn Jackson (Megan), Starla Tiraboschi, Stormy Tiraboschi, Casie Morrison and Shelby Spivey; six great-grandchildren, Brandon Oates, Brad Blankenship, Taylor Morrison, Jayce Morrison, Logan Jackson and Dillon Jackson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Tim Blankenship, Jay Morrison, Brandon Oates, Shawn Jackson, Edward Lipscomb and Charles Emmett Berry.
