Mrs. Eleanor B. Bickerton of Dothan passed away Monday, December 10, 2012. She was 94.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Maher officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 P.M. Thursday, December 13, 2012, one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted.
Donations may be also made to St. Columba Catholic Church building fund.
Mrs. Bickerton was born and raised in Woodbury, Georgia.
She lived in Washington DC in the 40’s and early 50’s and was one of the first female street car drivers.
She later settled in Dothan where she raised her family and worked at Sears Roebuck (Miss Bea) retiring after 22 years. She was a member of St Columba Catholic Church. Eleanor was a devoted and loving mom and granny. She loved spending time with her family, her neighborhood family and special friends, working in her yard and flowers. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching tennis and following the stock market and her trips to Panama City Beach.
She is preceded in death by her parents Robert Levi and Hester Bishop, her siblings Mildred Gilbert, Flora Bridges, Jean Alverson, Elease Cramer, Levi and Clifton Bishop.
Survivors include: her daughters, Gail Hernandez (Lupe) of Enterprise, Lisa Bickerton of Pelham, AL; grandchild Heather E. Little (Chase); great-grandchildren Bailey E. Wohltman, Lawsynn Eleanor Little, and Chasynn Lane Little; sisters Jeanette Byrd and Geneva Alverson, and several nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
