Elizabeth “Betty” Cook Brown of Ashford passed away peacefully at home with family on Thursday, April 24, 2014. She was 90. Inurnment will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cowarts Hwy 84 E. with Rev. James Miller officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.



Mrs. Brown was born on January 8, 1924 to the late Thomas Gordon and Elizabeth McFadden Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coach W.H. “Smokey” Brown. He was the love of her life. She spent many joyful years working with him at Ashford School as school secretary and lunchroom manger. She loved exercising at Olympia Spa while Smokey played golf. She was a gourmet cook and an avid gardener. She moved to Ashford in 1950 and was a member of the Ashford Methodist Church. She had an abundant life in Jesus Christ.



She is survived by one son, Charles E. Brown (Marsha) of Ashford; one daughter, Prudence B. Ulery (Doug) of Niceville, FL; three grandchildren, Natalie Kellogg (Tony), Ryan Brown and Clint Ulery; one great grandson, Keagan Kellogg.
