Mrs. Ella Mildred Kirkland formally of the Fadette Community in Geneva County, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 after an extended illness. She was 93.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 12, 2015. The family will receive friends at the Church at 10:00a.m. one hour prior to the funeral services. The funeral services will be at New Hinson Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Klobe officiating and Robert Byrd of Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow the services in New Hinson Baptist Church cemetery. At other times the family will be at the home of Marsha O'Donnell, 539 Doe Run Dr., Newton, AL 36352.

Mrs. Kirkland was born on Sept. 10, 1921 to the late Thomas and Ella Brookings in Graceville Florida. Mrs. Kirkland was reared in the Hebron Community in Henry County. She was a home maker and was previously employed at Flowers Hospital and the Bible Baptist Institute as a dietitian. She was a dedicated member of the New Hinson Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Mildred was a very dedicated and loving mother, grandmother to all her family and to all of her friends.

In addition to her parents, her Husband (James Webster Kirkland) her two sisters Hazel Bond, and Orine Snell, her two brothers Thomas and Orville Brookins preceded her in death.

Surviving relatives include her children, Marsha Ree O'Donnell (Edwin), Charles E. Kirkland, Lannis E. Kirkland, Eva G. Collins, Phillip O. Kirkland; Grandchildren, Angela Toole, Zane Kirkland, Amber Gross, Andrew Collins, Jennifer Ainsworth, Adam Collins, Clinton Collins, Chelsea Cureton, Ashley Collins, Phillip Collins; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
