Mrs. Ellen Evans Crozier
July 13, 1924 – April 6, 2018
Leaves to cherish 2 grandchildren, Teresa Crozier Skipper and Clay Crozier, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren. Along with many, many, many, many who loved her dearly and will miss her until we meet again.
Our sweet angel, Mrs. Ellen has gone to be with her Lord, Jesus along with her husband Ralph and son, Ricky Crozier as well as her parents and other loved ones. These are the words she wrote and wanted me to share them with you. I am honored to do this.
I was born in Clay County, GA July 13, 1924 in a precious family. My mama and daddy, Henry Roy Evans and Nelle Jones Evans and older sister, Evalena and another sister six years later, Bennie. We lived with my granddaddy and grandmamma Evans; Henry J. and Elizabeth Evans.
My mama, daddy, older sister Evalena and my grandparents have passed away.
I grew up in Dothan, AL and Marianna, FL, going to public school and studying music from 3rd grade.
Ralph and I married young. We had almost 72 years together – he passed away in 2012 after a precious life together.
Music was a major part of my life. Ralph supported me in my music all along the way.
Ricky became such a blessing to us in 1951. I cherished every minute I had with Ralph and Ricky. Ricky passed away in 2013.
Ralph served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. I was a riveter on B-29’s at Bill Aircraft, Marietta, GA during WWII. My sister-in-law was my bucker. She bucked my rivets. We worked on B-29’s and on the ones that bombed Japan.
After the war, we came home to the farm in Fort Gaines and we loved the country life.
I started teaching music in 1956 and taught until up in the 1980’s. I dearly loved every child I worked with.
I was pianist at Shiloh Baptist Church for over 75 years. What an honor and privilege to play for our church using what God has blessed me with. I knew early on God gave me a talent and expected me to use it (and so did my mama and daddy). So, all along the way, every note I played – I gave God the glory!
I have had such a good life. Family, friends, health, but, the best is yet to come! When you read this, I will be experiencing that glorious life!
God bless you – as He has blessed me. – Ellen
