Elmyra Henson Rosser, age 95, died November 23, 2018. She was born in Bridgeport, AL on August 7, 1923, and was one of eight children born to William A. and Fannie Abbott Henson
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 26, 2018 at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Elder Sande Sangsland officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.
From an early age, Elmyra cultivated a love for gardening, sewing and homemaking. Her primary occupation was a farmer’s wife and a mother which she was very passionate about. She lived the majority of her life on a farm in Gadsden, AL and Bonifay, FL and relocated to Enterprise in 2006 to be near family. Elmyra was a strong, practical person shaped by the Great Depression and a large, loving family. She loved the Lord, her family and served with gratitude and kindness and knew how to make a lot out of a little.
Elmyra was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell E. Rosser; grandson, Jesse Williams; her parents; her brothers, Fred, Roy, Alton and Abbott Henson; and a sister, Una Beatrice Zefferer.
Survivors include her daughters, Rita Johnson (Dallas), Tallahassee, FL, Judy Williams (Don), Enterprise, AL, Wanda Guthrie (Charlie), Valrico, FL; grandsons, Lorne Johnson, Gainesville, FL, Clint Guthrie, Okeechobee, FL; granddaughters, Lindsay Phillips (Ryan), Enterprise, AL, Page Guthrie, Bonifay, FL; great-grandsons, Ellis Williams, Aden Phillips, Tyler Guthrie, Wyatt Fleming; and great-granddaughter, Kelsey Fleming. She is also survived by her twin sisters, Imogean Jennings and Unodean Henson both of Enterprise, AL and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, any desired memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, PO Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703 or DaySpring Hospice, 1275 James Drive, Enterprise, AL 36330. The family wished to express deep appreciation to Dr. Monty Peden, Enterprise Health and Rehab Staff, DaySpring Hospice, and to our friends and neighbors for love and compassionate care shown to our dear Mother.
