The good Lord has called home one of His faithful servants, Elner May Best. Sister Elner, as she was fondly known, was born on the 28th day of July 1945, in the beautiful state of Alabama. She departed from this earthly realm on the 25th of June 2023, leaving a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering spirit.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Harvest Church Chapel.
Visitation will be from 1:30 -2:30 PM Friday at the church. Ward Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Elner was a beacon of light in her family, an anchor to her beloved husband of 57 1/2 years, Jerry Best, and a guiding star to her children, Michael Best, Robyn Best, and Kerry Best. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to her sisters, Mavis Cherry and Mary Evelyn Cherry Tolar, a brother, Humax. She was a doting grandmother to Jayde Best Pepper, Anders Best Pybus, and a great-grandmother to Janie Pepper and Jeddy Pepper. Elner was preceded in death by her parents and her brother.
Her education at the seminary equipped her with knowledge and wisdom which she generously shared with her community. She was a stalwart of faith, leading the Sunday school with grace and nurturing the spiritual growth of many young souls. A devoted Christian, Elner lived her life as a testament to her faith, and her unwavering belief was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Elner was not just a homemaker, but a home builder. She built her home with love and faith, shaping it into a sanctuary for her family. She was a wonderful mother, guiding her children with wisdom and nurturing them with love. As a wife, she stood by her husband, supporting him in every endeavor, sharing his joys and sorrows, and making their journey together a beautiful testament of love.
Her interests were simple and heartwarming. Elner had a special fondness for flowers, their vibrant colors and delicate fragrances bringing her joy. She also loved to quilt, her fingers weaving threads of love and warmth into each piece she created. Each quilt was a reflection of her loving spirit, a tapestry of her faith and her love for her family.
The words that best describe Elner are loving, spirited, and faith-filled. She was a woman of immense love, her heart a wellspring of kindness and compassion.
