HEADLAND. . .Elsie Haynes Davis, a resident of The Terrace at Grove Park, Dothan, formerly of Headland, died late Friday night, January 20, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. She was 97.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 22, 2012, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church of Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. and Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Headland Baptist Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the worship center.
            Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Headland, 203 Mitchell Street, Headland, AL. 36345.


            Mrs. Davis was born and reared in Headland, daughter of the late Ross Eugene Haynes and Eva Johnson Haynes. She was a graduate of Headland High and lived all her life in Headland before moving to Dothan in 2004. Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution and was a former member of the Headland Garden Club. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Buris Parker Davis and a sister, Mary Ross Haynes Helms.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Eugenia Davis Granberry and husband, Wayne, Wetumpka; a son, Dr. Pat Davis and wife, Georgianne, Dothan; four grandchildren, Bill Granberry, Jenny Granberry Barkley and husband, Jimmy, Dr. Ross Davis and wife, Mary Anna and Ben Davis; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter Barkley, Eva Beth Barkley, Ally Barkley, Lissa Barkley, Mary Katherine Granberry, Laura Granberry and Shelby Davis, nieces, Elsie Helms Alexander and husband, Craig; and Linda Davis Santman and husband, Budd; a nephew, John Ross Helms and wife, Susan;  several great-nieces and great-nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be John Ross Helms, Ben Davis, Dr. Ross Davis, Hunter Barkley, Jimmy Barkley, Bill Granberry, David Livingston and Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Sr.
